CF Benidorm were back on the training pitch today, with Sergio Mora putting his players through their paces ahead of Saturday’s trip to Benigànim CF.
Following a day off yesterday, the lads were working hard as preparations continued for the ninth round of Lliga Comunitat FFCV Grup Sud fixtures.
One particularly welcome sight was Jorge ‘Quini’ Gómez taking part in training with the squad, including the practice match. The right winger has been sidelined for some time with a serious injury, so seeing him back involved was an encouraging moment in his recovery.
There is also positive news surrounding centre-back Jheider Cuesta, who is closing in on a return after being forced off injured during the opening-day victory over CDF Jávea on 6 September.
Benidorm head into Saturday’s match unbeaten and second in the table, with 17 points from seven matches following five wins and two draws. They sit just one point behind leaders CDF Jávea, who have played a game more.
After last weekend’s 1-1 draw away at CE Alberic Sucemart, Mora’s side will be looking to return to winning ways and maintain the pressure at the top.
Benigànim occupy 13th place with seven points from eight matches, having recorded two wins, one draw and five defeats. They go into the fixture following a 2-0 defeat at Jávea on Sunday.
Kick-off on Saturday, 31 October, is at 5.30pm Spain time.
David Flanagan is organising transport for this fixture. Anyone wishing to travel on his supporters’ bus should contact him as soon as possible via WhatsApp on +34 611 263 644.
