Late Pato and Marcos Goals Send Unbeaten CF Benidorm Top After 4-2 Victory at Benigànim

CF Benidorm player shoots against Benigànim CF

CF Benidorm moved to the top of the Lliga Comunitat FFCV Group South table on Saturday evening after two late goals secured a dramatic 4-2 victory away to Benigànim CF.

Captain Pato struck in the 86th minute before substitute Marcos Guillén added a fourth in the 94th minute, extending Sergio Mora’s unbeaten league run to eight matches and securing a sixth victory of the season.

It was far from straightforward for the visitors, who twice took the lead only to see Benigànim fight back on both occasions before Benidorm finally settled the contest in the closing stages.

Santos opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a superb long-range strike into the top corner, giving Benidorm the perfect start and registering his second league goal of the campaign.

However, the hosts responded before the interval, with Ramón González equalising in the 42nd minute to send the two sides into half-time level at 1-1.

Benidorm wasted little time restoring their advantage after the restart. Álvaro Lopez scored his fourth league goal of the season in the 48th minute to put Sergio Mora’s side back in front.

There was a setback for the visitors five minutes later when Davi Alexander was forced off after taking a knee to his back. Luis Castillo replaced him in the 53rd minute, with Hugo García also introduced in place of Daniel Adom.

Benigànim refused to surrender and equalised for a second time in the 58th minute through Borislav Boikov, leaving the contest finely balanced at 2-2.

Mora made further changes in the 68th minute, introducing Marcos Guillén and Mati in place of Santos and Álvaro respectively.

The home side were then reduced to ten men in the 74th minute when González, who had scored their first equaliser, received a second yellow card and was sent off.

Despite their numerical advantage, Benidorm still had work to do as the match entered its final stages.

The breakthrough eventually arrived in the 86th minute when captain Pato restored the visitors’ lead, scoring his first league goal of the campaign to make it 3-2.

With Benigànim desperately seeking another equaliser, substitute Marcos Guillén completed the scoring in the 94th minute, securing an important three points and putting the result beyond doubt.

The victory was particularly satisfying for Benidorm following last weekend’s frustrating 1-1 draw at CE Alberic, when they conceded a late penalty after appearing to have done enough to claim all three points.

This time, it was Mora’s men who delivered the decisive late blows.

Benidorm Return to the Summit

The result takes CF Benidorm to 20 points from eight matches, with six victories and two draws maintaining their unbeaten start to the 2026/27 campaign.

Having scored 16 goals and conceded eight, the Benidorm side moved two points clear of CDF Jávea at the top of the table following Saturday’s result.

However, Jávea still have their ninth-round fixture against CF Independiente Alicante to play on Sunday, meaning the league leadership could change again before the weekend is over.

For Benigànim, Saturday’s defeat leaves them 13th in the standings with seven points from nine matches, having now conceded 21 league goals this season.

Benidorm will next turn their attention to Santa Pola CF, whom they are scheduled to face at home on Sunday 8 November.
